In 2014, 64% of Utah was Federally owned. Utahns know best what to do with Utah lands. The constitution allows 10 square miles for a military base. How did we stray so far from such an initial and clear directive about federal land? A clear overreach of federal authority.
This shouldn’t be a difficult issue for most folks. If you believe the federal government does a better job at protecting and managing lands, then you’ll want them to keep grabbing it up. If not, you want it in the hands of Utah governments and institutions. I’m a state guy. Even further then that, I’m a locality guy, be it county or city, I’ll keep things as closely related and void of bureaucracies as they can be. Pretty simple.
